GARO takes the next step with EPD for cable cabinets

GARO’s cable cabinets for low-voltage distribution have now received a third-party verified EPD (Environmental Product Declaration). The EPD is based on a life cycle assessment and provides customers, consultants and procurers with transparent and quality-assured environmental data for the products. This strengthens GARO’s offering in a market where sustainability requirements and climate data are becoming increasingly important in product selection and procurement. 

The EPD covers GARO’s cable cabinets: 

• K2 400A 
• K3 400A 
• K4 400A 

The cable cabinets are designed for outdoor installation in low-voltage networks and are used in residential areas, urban environments, industrial areas and other public infrastructure. The products are manufactured at GARO’s production facility in Sweden and are constructed from steel with a Magnelis® coating, providing high corrosion resistance equivalent to class C5 and a long service life even in demanding Nordic environments. 

The declaration reports the products’ environmental impact throughout their life cycle, from raw material extraction and manufacturing to transport, installation, demolition, waste management and recycling.

The EPD is available through EPD Hub and GARO and complies with the following standards: 

• EN 15804+A2 
• ISO 14025
