Next-level safety

We’re striving hard to be a role model in electric vehicle charging and, above all, to be a forerunner in safety. It exists product standards and Electrical Installation Regulations for a reason. We at GARO take no chances when it comes to safety. We have invested in components that both electronically and mechanically ensure that your house, electrical system and car works together in a safe way. Keep in mind that you must use a qualified electrician to install a wallbox at home.

GARO Entity Balance protects the main fuse

GARO Entity Balance protects the main fuse

Together with GARO Entity Balance, your wallbox is smart enough to ensure that the load on your home electrical system won’t exceed the maximum limit when charging your electric car or plug-in hybrid. The load balancing system communicates wirelessly with your wallbox and ensures that the charging output from your wallbox is adapted to your other electricity consumption. Put simply, you need not worry about tripping the main fuse.

How load balancing works

You come home from work and connect your car to the wallbox, which puts a load on your home electrical system. A short time later, you start preparing dinner and turn on the cooker. As the evening air starts to cool, the heat pump also starts leading to a period of high electricity consumption. The load balancing system immediately detects any increase in electricity use. With a wallbox equipped with built-in load balancing, the risk of tripping the main fuse is significantly reduced. GARO Entity Balance then adapts to the greater load by lowering the charging output to the car for the while. Once the household demand drops, the charging output is increased again without tripping the main fuse.

Green Tax Deduction – Charging Station with Load Balancing

Green Tax Deduction – Charging Station with Load Balancing

If you plan to install a charging station with integrated load balancing, you may be eligible for the green tax deduction – a government-backed incentive that covers up to 50% of the labor cost for the installation. By installing load balancing at the same time as your charging station, you can receive part of the deduction directly on your invoice. To qualify, the installation must be carried out by a certified electrician and meet the criteria for energy-saving measures. The green tax deduction makes it easier to invest in a safe and smart charging solution from the very start. With the right wallbox and load balancing, you get a reliable setup while reducing the risk of blown fuses during periods of high electricity consumption in your household.

FAQ – Load balancing

Load balancing is a function that balances the power available in your household, enabling multiple electrical appliances to be used at the same time without tripping any fuses. It monitors how much power is being used in your property. This ensures that the charging output from your wallbox is automatically adapted to other electricity consumption in your home, protecting your fuses and making for more efficient electricity use.

To install load balancing, an additional energy meter needs to be fitted in the distribution cabinet for your home’s incoming electricity. An Ethernet cable is then used to connect the energy meter to your wallbox to enable them to communicate. In some cases, a wireless connection can also be used if your wallbox supports this function. The GARO Entity Balance load balancing unit can communicate with your wallbox both wirelessly and via an Ethernet cable.

While load balancing isn’t a necessity, we strongly recommend it to ensure safe and efficient use of the power available to your household. Electric vehicle charging requires a high power output and load balancing helps protect your main fuse from tripping during charging. You may need load balancing if, for example, you have several electric cars or are using several other power-guzzling appliances at the same time. Whether you need load balancing is mainly down to the size of your main fuse and your total electricity consumption. A qualified electrician can help you determine whether you need load balancing.

Yes, load balancing can be installed later, but it’s usually cheaper to do so when installing your wallbox. However, keep in mind that not all wallboxes support dynamic load balancing, so check this before committing. GARO Entity offers dynamic load balancing capabilities, and together with the GARO Entity Balance unit can optimise charging and maximise the use of the power available in your property for electric vehicle charging. If load balancing is to be installed later, it’s also important to remember that the installation must always be conducted by a qualified electrician.
