Sustainable Material Choices at GARO

At GARO, sustainable material choices are a natural part of how we work. Through smart solutions, we reduce our environmental impact and create products built to last.

Sustainable Material Choices at GARO

GARO has a strong focus on sustainability. We work in a long-term and systematic way to reduce the impact our activities, products, and decisions have on the environment, society, and people across the entire value chain. As a company whose products form an important part of society’s infrastructure, we carry a great responsibility. This makes our material choices and design decisions key sustainability factors.

At GARO, all materials are carefully reviewed and evaluated, and we work closely with our suppliers to ensure that sourcing is done in a responsible and sustainable manner. Market and EU requirements for sustainability, certifications, and standards are constantly increasing, and we always strive to stay ahead. For us, this means systematically reducing material use without compromising on quality or safety, while prioritizing materials with a low carbon footprint.

We are constantly seeking new and smarter solutions that both extend the lifespan of our products and minimize their environmental impact. A clear example of this is our use of Magnelis® in our cable cabinets – a more environmentally friendly and corrosion-resistant coating than traditional galvanized sheet metal. In addition, our grey switches are now manufactured with housings made from 100% recycled material, helping save resources and contributing to a circular economy.

This is an ongoing process where every improvement counts. At GARO, sustainability is an integral part of our development process. From material selection and design to packaging and product lifecycle, every step is analyzed from a sustainability perspective.

Sustainable material choices are essential to ensure that our products endure – both for the user and for the environment. The fact that we now manufacture our grey switches with 100% recycled material is another important step in the right direction,” says Daniel Englund, Commercial Product Manager at GARO Electrification.
