Perform your thesis project at GARO - Integration of engine heaters into electric vehicle charging systems

Do you want to conduct your thesis project in an exciting and growing industry? Then we have the assignment for you!

Background
Today, there is a well-established communication protocol for electric vehicle charging, OCPP. This protocol is adapted for charging stations for electric vehicles and enables charging stations to communicate with a superior cloud service in a standardized way. In addition to charging stations for electric vehicles, GARO also provides engine heater systems. These systems come in different functional levels, where the more advanced ones communicate with cloud services.

Assignment
Now, we want to develop our services to improve and meet market demand. Therefore, the assignment involves investigating whether and how OCPP could be used or adapted to fit engine heater systems. It also includes proposing how an implementation in a 32-bit MCU can be designed.

Purpose/Goal
The purpose is to investigate whether and how OCPP can be adapted for engine heater control. The goal is to propose the choice of OCPP library, how it can be adapted and utilized, and possibly a test implementation against GARO's existing electric vehicle charging system.
