HISTORY

Originally GARO was called Gårö Elektriska Armaturfabrik, GEA. the name Gårö originates from the local area in which the company is located.

The first own brand product launched by GARO in 1946 was the Junction Box, which still sells well in today´s market. Of course the product sold today has undergone much development and improvement to meet modern requirements.

GARO Ireland, based in Dublin, was the first subsidiary to be established in 1981. Since then, the company has grown from strength to strength, today playing an important role in the Irish market. The Norwegian subsidiary, in Drammen, was founded in 1985, with a similar growth and success as GARO Ireland.

GARO encountered rapid growth and expansion during the 1980's. In 1993 GARO opened a new sales office in Stockholm to support further expansion.

In 1994 GÅRÖ dropped the Swedish letters to become GARO

GARO Poland opened for business in 1997 and that same year GARO also achieved ISO 9001 Quality Management Certification.

In 2002 GARO was registered as a trademark within the EU.

During 2004, another subsidiary, GARO Montage was established. The main purpose of GARO Montage was to act as a panel builder for GCS cabinet systems. This operation has encountered ongoing success, growing from a team of four in 2004 to a workforce of 30 today.

2006 was the third consecutive year GARO was rated an AAA Company. GARO is one of 15,430 companies out of 277,065 limited companies in Sweden with the highest credit rating in Soliditet´s credit rating system for the period 01-07-2005 to 30-06-2006. We are still an AAA company in 2009...

 

2008 the new subsidiary in Finland was established and during 2009 GARO aquires Hflex, a company with construction lighting as speciality

 

2009 is the year when we celebrate 70 år as a company
